Design. Verification. Testing.

Fire Alarm Design

Large Projects – Complete design including CAD drawings and project specific specifications. Our design drawings include an accurate fire alarm single line diagram, including isolation modules, device descriptions and addresses, sequence of operation and candela settings for fire alarm strobes. We also incorporate specific requirements of fire alarm manufacturers on existing systems, or when a manufacturer is specified.

Small Projects – A scope of work letter describes the design of small modifications to fire alarm systems when drawings are not required. We provide detailed descriptions of the required work and reference the applicable codes and standards. This enables the contractor to secure the necessary permits from the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

Fire Alarm Verification

On-site witnessing of fire alarm verifications, focusing on code compliance and documentation. We provide our clients with on-site documentation of the verification process, including testing methods and device lists. We verify our own projects as well as designs provided by other engineering firms. When providing verification of designs provided by other engineering firms, a drawing review is required and included in our fees. A fire alarm certificate is provided after the successful completion of the verification.

Fire Alarm Design Drawing Review

We provide a complete review of drawings and specifications designed by other engineering firms to ensure local code compliance. Once complete, we provide our clients with a drawing review letter, listing deficiencies, if any, which require correction prior to verification.

Integrated Testing of Life Safety Systems

Class A Fire Consulting can fulfill the responsibilities of the integrated testing coordinator, as per CAN/ULC-1001 and required by Alberta Building Code. We provide our clients with a complete process for the required testing of integrated life safety system. We collect all testing documentation provided by other disciplines and combine them with ours to produce a complete report for the project. The intent of this process is to have one document that explains how all integrated life safety systems work together in the completed building, and to ensure the requirements of annual testing are clear. An Integrated Systems Testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems certificate is provided after the completion of testing.

Fire Alarm System Audits

Audits of existing fire alarm systems are normally performed on older systems when the building owner is preparing for a system upgrade or replacement. We can provide a code compliance report, identify deficiencies and assist the building owner with project planning and budgeting.
